⚡ Senior Software Engineer
💻 Healthcare, AI, Revenue Cycle Management
🌍 Hybrid + Burlingame, CA
💰 Salary: $180,000 – $200,000

A fast-growing, Series B-backed healthtech startup specializing in AI-driven healthcare solutions, seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to help develop systems powering voice and large language model (LLM)-enabled products. These solutions aim to reduce administrative burdens, improve revenue cycle workflows, and enhance operational efficiency for healthcare organizations at scale.

This role offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud-native technologies, solve complex real-world healthcare problems, and directly contribute to the next generation of healthcare infrastructure. The engineering and product teams are advancing capabilities in AI agent performance, workflow automation, customer integrations, and cloud infrastructure.

This senior individual contributor position involves designing, building, testing, and maintaining backend services that support AI-powered healthcare workflows, scalable APIs, data systems, integrations, and platform components. You will collaborate closely with product management to translate customer needs into reliable software, own well-scoped projects from design through delivery, and contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, test, and maintain backend services supporting healthcare AI workflows,
  • Develop scalable APIs, data systems, integrations, and platform components,
  • Partner with Product Management to clarify requirements, shape implementation plans, and connect technical work to customer impact,
  • Develop and operate backend systems in a modern, GCP-based cloud environment,
  • Write clean, reliable, maintainable code with attention to testing, observability, performance, and security,
  • Debug production issues and improve system reliability and quality,
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend, infrastructure, machine learning, and operations,
  • Help improve internal engineering practices, tooling, and documentation,
  • Build with awareness of healthcare data privacy, HIPAA compliance, and data integrity.

Requirements / Who We’re Looking For:

  • 1+ years of professional software engineering experience,
  • Strong programming skills in Python,
  • Experience building and maintaining production backend services, APIs, and distributed systems,
  • Comfortable working with RESTful or gRPC APIs, service-oriented or microservices architectures,
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred),
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases such as Postgres, Redis, or DynamoDB,
  • Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes),
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform,
  • Strong debugging skills and operational experience in production environments,
  • Systems thinking with a focus on reliability and maintainability,
  • Ability to independently own projects while collaborating effectively with senior engineers,
  • Clear communicator able to work closely with product teams,
  • Curiosity about AI, voice tech, automation, healthcare infrastructure, and revenue cycle management,
  • High ownership, proactive action, and low ego in fast-paced startup settings.

Why Join?

  • Be part of a rapidly scaling AI healthtech company post-Series B,
  • Develop voice and LLM-powered automation addressing meaningful healthcare challenges,
  • Work with modern cloud-native tools in a GCP environment,
  • Collaborate closely with product and customer-facing teams,
  • Own significant technical scope and learn from a driven, ambitious engineering team,
  • Contribute to reducing administrative burdens and improving healthcare revenue operations.
