Overview:

A fast-growing Series E AI Healthtech company is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help build and scale its next generation AI platform.

The business is investing heavily in intelligent automation and AI-powered tools that improve internal operations, enhance decision-making, and create better experiences for end users. As part of a high-impact product team, you’ll play a key role in defining architecture, driving technical strategy, and delivering scalable software solutions that support rapid growth.

This opportunity sits at the intersection of backend engineering, AI applications, distributed systems, and platform development. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to build systems that power mission-critical workflows and operational efficiency.

What you’ll do:

• Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs using modern Python and Java frameworks
• Develop AI-powered applications, intelligent workflows, and agent-based automation capabilities
• Architect distributed systems and event-driven services that support real-time operations at scale
• Drive technical architecture and engineering best practices across the team
• Lead complex technical projects from initial design through deployment and ongoing support
• Partner with Product, AI/ML, and business stakeholders to transform requirements into scalable solutions
• Improve performance, reliability, observability, and operational excellence across the platform
• Contribute to the evolution of CI/CD processes and cloud infrastructure
• Mentor engineers and help maintain a high bar for software quality and technical execution
• Remain hands-on with design, development, troubleshooting, and optimization activities

What we’re looking for:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience building scalable backend or full-stack applications
• Strong expertise with Python and/or Java in production environments
• Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Understanding of AI-enabled products, LLM integrations, agent frameworks, or intelligent automation solutions
• Strong system design and architecture experience with cloud-native applications
• Experience with event-driven systems and service-oriented architectures
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering direction
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and production support experience
• Experience working within fast-paced, high-growth technology environments
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering tooling preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
